Trump’s Controversial Pro-Gold Fed Nominee Blocked by Senate
Posted by Brian Ford on November 23, 2020President Trump’s Federal Reserve Board nomination Judy Shelton has been effectively blocked.
The 47-50 vote was swayed in the Democrats favour as Republicans Mitt Romney and Susan Maine joined the left and voted against the nomination.
The vote was cast as two of Sheltons supporters, Republicans Rick Scott and Chuck Grassley were absent and thus unable to vote due to coronavirus exposure.
Tipping the scales in the Democrats favour was Kamala Harris in her first return to the chamber since becoming Vice President elect in the still disputed election.
Shelton’s confirmation however was always expected to be an uphill battle because of her unconventional views on the central bank and the gold standard. If the government can’t print as much money without backing how can they continue to dilute our wealth at such an alarming rate.
